Hey!! tualatrix had setted up a Gloobus PPA!!!!!!!!! AMAZING!!
There is the last version (Including Source view and Freetype fonts preview)
https://launchpad.net/~tualatrix/+archive/gloobus/
So, to install gloobus from the ppa:
Add these lines to /etc/apt/sources.list
deb http://ppa.launchpad.net/tualatrix/gloobus/ubuntu jaunty main
deb-src http://ppa.launchpad.net/tualatrix/gloobus/ubuntu jaunty main
Then run add the key
sudo apt-key adv --keyserver keyserver.ubuntu.com --recv-keys 0624A220
Update packages list
sudo apt-get update
Install gloobus-preview
sudo apt-get install gloobus-preview
sudo apt-get upgrade (To upgrade to patched nautilus)
Finally, restart nautilus
nautilus -q
nautilus &
Gloobus Studio

I`m trying to install Gloobus for the first time, however I`m not sure about the upgrading Nautilus step.
Why is that? Is it going to download some sort of different nautilus from your PPA? That means that I`m not going to keep getting nautilus updates from the official ubuntu repos?

The nautilus in our PPA is the last nautilus version, but with just the space key modification. We’re going to patch every nautilus version so don’t worry cause our nautilus will be the same as the official 😉
In october there’s a new nautilus verision, and kitkat promised he will have the patch ready!

There is one question, how can i activate the coverflow?
when i hit space key, they just preview the image/ text.

Coverflow isn’t in the repository yet, now there’s only the preview. Anyway, we are working in adding coverflow too. As soon as we have it I’ll post it 😉

Hey, there is a way to launch gloobus-preview without installing the parched nautilus, but then you need to do ctl+c and then crtl+space, its a good way but, with the parched nautilus is better!!

Why I have to install these packages with gloobus: openoffice.org-common openoffice.org-core openoffice.org-style-human?

Gloobus can preview office and openoffice files, to preview them I use unoconv application that depends on thos openoffice packages.
I haven’t found a better way to preview them, but if you don’t want to install those dependences, you can override them and don’t install the openoffice plugin.
If you are interested in this, tell me and I’ll support you in the installation 😉 however, if you know a better way to load openoffice and office documents, I would be really happy cause neither like using this unoconv app
THX for the attention. In fact, the problem is I’m using a «local variation» of openoffice.org, it’s broffice.org.
So when I try to install gloobus via apt-get, I have to unistall: broffice.org-debian-menus and install: openoffice.org-common openoffice.org-core
openoffice.org-style-human.
If I do this, my office suite do not work.
But I really want to use this useful application.
Perfect! I love gloobus, hope it gets included in nautilus by default soon.

If you use the ppa tag, both apt and software-sources gui will automatically retrieve the key.

Tengo Gloobus+preview instalado y funcionando desde los repositorios + coverflow desde el paquete .deb y funciona de lujo salvo por un detalle… Cuando selecciono un archivo dentro de una carpeta determinada y abro el coverflow no me muestra los archivos de dicha carpeta, si no de cualquier otra. Es molesto porque yo, evidentemente, quiero que me abra los archivos de la carpeta en la que estoy en cuestión y no de otra.
¿Cómo puedo hacer para solucionar esto? No he visto ningón fichero de configuración ni nada por el estilo…

y si pulsas un fichero y le das a coverflow que te hace? no te muestra todos los ficheros de la carpeta?
Me muestra todos los ficheros de «otra carpeta» de otro directorio, pero no de la que pulso. Abro las carpetas con una orden añadida al menú de nautilus (/usr/bin/gloobus) mediante nautilus actions, como te dije.
Has añadido la ruta de la carpeta despues de /usr/bin/gloobus?

No me había dado cuenta, el directorio que se me abre es el inmediatamente anterior al que se supone que quiero abrir. Es decir si tengo una carpeta llamada «imágenes» dentro de mi «home» y me sitúo en ella, al abrir cualquier archivo con coverflow se me abre la carpera «home» directamenre y no la de «imágenes», y así con todas las demás.
Esto pasa si no selecionas ningún fichero y lo haces directamente en la carpeta
prueba de selecionar un fichero y abrir el coverflow en este fichero (que este dentro la carpeta que quieres ver)
No, la acción de abrir con gloobus en el menú de nautilus actions solo me aparece cuando selecciono un fichero, si selecciono una carpeta ni siquiera aparece la opción.

With Karmic, it’s easy to add the Gloobus-ppa: sudo add-apt-repository ppa:tualatrix/gloobus
I install it yesterday at my Karmic Desktop with the nautilus patch, but one problem occur, the nautilus can’t show my desktop background with my selected image.
I select at image as the desktop background, after a few minutes, it will change to a plain colour.
Umf.. this is very strange, you’re the first one to report it, it may be due some other thing.. cause our nautilus version only adds the space shortcut to launch gloobus..

Claro, digo por comentarios porque no puedo hacerlo funcionar en mi Karmic Koala 😦 .. Instalo «gloobus-preview», reinicio nautilus pero la tecla espacio ejecuta el programa predeterminado para abrir el archivo en cuestión (Gedit, Visor de imágenes, etc)
¿Alguna idea?

El dist-upgade no actualiza nada pero ahora pude comprobar que la instalación se realiza correctamente y el programa funciona. El único problema es que no puedo lanzarlo con la barra espaciadora.

Okay, «CTRL+C and CTRL+Space» open Gloobus-preview. Not’s the best choice but is the best I could do.
The question now is how can i launch Gloobus with Coverflow effect? I did try to install this package (http://jordihp.deviantart.com/art/Gloobus-0-4-123645797 [gloobus_0.4_i386]) but i have a dependency «libclutter» with «upper» version that requeired by the package.

Queria hacerte una consulta, como hago para que funcione el coverflow con un tecla, como lo hace con espacio en el preview y si se puede hacer funcionar de tal manera que abriendo un coverflow pueda abrir el otro archivo tambien en coverflow desde el mismo coverflow.. espero que se me entienda jeje.. pero seria como sustituir casi al nautilus. Pones el coverflow y le das enter para abrir el archivo, espacio para el preview o el otro boton para abrir el otro archivo en coverflow, cerrando el anterior coverflow!

y una ultima cosa… se podria hacer que el coverflow no vea los archivos ocultos, osea los que tienen el punto, porque asi cada vez que abro mi carpeta home se me abren muchas carpetas y archivos que no me interesan ver.

mm.. se me ocurrio una cosa mas, la opcion de que con el click derecho en el coverflow se vea el preview y con el doble click se abra la carpeta en coverflow y el archivo tambien, ya que por ahora no funciona con enter… o si se puede hacer funcionar?

Tried to install on karmic from tualatrix’ ppa but it won’t work.
nautilus has been upgraded but no changes (ie I don’t get the ‘simplified’ nautilus and preview doesn’t work).
I had these error message during install :
